LAHORE – All four opposition parties in the Punjab Assembly showing unity on Panama leaks issue have suggested Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to replace himself with a procurator.
Opposition parties issuing a joint declaration of their parliamentary meeting headed by Opposition Leader Mehmoodur Rasheed of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have urged the prime minister to quit the office and present himself for investigations.
The parliamentary meeting was held here on Wednesday in which Faiza Malik of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Waqas Hasan Moakal of Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q), and Dr Waseem of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) represented their parties.
After the parliamentary meeting, united opposition held a press conference and made public their joint declaration and demanded the PM Nawaz to resign and nominate someone else (a procurator) till completion of investigations to him.
They said in the declaration that parliamentary parties of opposition in Punjab were agreed to carry a protest campaign after the final decision and strategy that would be adopted in May 2nd meeting. The joint opposition alleged that government was involved in harassing and stoping transporters to provide their vehicles to them for holding announced rally on Labour Day May 1st.
They warn the government for dengerous consequences if the hurdles would be created to hold the protest rally of joint opposition on The Mall. The joint opposition questioned the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) credibility over its strange silence on the mega corruption cases. They also demanded the government to call the Punjab Assembly session announced to continue their protest against Sharif family’s involvement in offshore companies in Panama inside and outside the assembly too. In the declaration, the opposition also raised the problems being faced by farmers, lacking of medical facilities in hospitals and Layyah tragedy.
