ISLAMABAD – In a meeting with Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Senator Ishaq Dar in Islamabad on Monday, Saudi Ambassador Abdullah Marzouk Al Zahrani said his country fully supports Pakistan’s efforts in eliminating militancy and extremism.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan telephoned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and conveyed his deepest condolences on the loss of precious lives in Lahore terror attack. The prime minister told the Turkish president that terrorism has become a serious global challenge and Turkey is also facing this menace. Nawaz reiterated Pakistan’s condemnation of terrorist attacks in Turkey, including the recent one in Ankara.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in Lahore blast. UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Pakistan Neil Buhne called on Dar in Islamabad today and conveyed message of the UN chief for the prime minister. He also expressed deep resolve of the world body to support development activities in under served areas of Pakistan with a view to alleviating poverty.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has condemned Lahore blast and expressed symapthies with the bereaved families. In his condolence messages to President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, he termed Lahore incident as a barbaric act against humanity.
The Russian president said his country supports Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism. He stressed the need for joint efforts at international and regional levels to counter terrorism.
Major world countries have strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Lahore. A spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad said that they were deeply shocked and saddened by the incident, which caused heavy casualties.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe condemning the Lahore incident expressed his country’s full support to Pakistan in its fight against terrorism. According to a statement of the Japanese embassy, Prime Minister Abe expressed condolences and sympathy to all victims of the terrorist attack. Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida also sent his condolence message and support Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz to express his condolences.
In Tehran, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansanri also strongly condemned the terrorist blast in Lahore and expressed sympathy with the families of victims.
